In the bacari
you can drink Cabernet, Merlot and Bardolino, Prosecco, Malvasia, Soave, Traminer and, of course your favorite spritz!  You can try 
the authentic Spritz
, made with Prosecco, Aperol or Campari, or the Venetian Select, sparkling water or Seltz, a slice of orange and to put the finishing touches the olive. 

In these small, simple and typical taverns you can also try the Venetian appetizers, snacks of food, called cicheti, ranging from fish balls to small stuffed sandwiches.
In the friendly and familiar atmosphere, you can choose your drink and your cicheto from the bar and easily relax. 
Each bacaro offers its own appetizers. It is a unique way to they the Venetian cuisine!

Among the among the most common ones you can find the sarde in saor (fried fresh sardine fillets marinated in softly cooked white onions), baccalà mantecato (whipped salted cod served on slices of bread or polenta), meatballs, mozzarelle in carrozza (fried mozzarella cheese sandwiches), fried fish, tramezzini (triangular Italian sandwich constructed from two slices of soft white bread, with the crusts removed) and sandwiches stuffed with cured meats. 

The bacaro tour is a not expensive authentic way to enjoy the lagoon, the price of a glass of wine ranges from 0.60 cents to 4 euros maximum, while the price of a cicheto ranges from 1 to 4 euros.


Those who have not yet had the chance to visit Venice will certainly not miss the opportunity to go on a bacaro tour on their first visit, and for those who have already visited it this will certainly be an opportunity to experience the city in a new way.

​Festa Medievale della Marciliana e Sagra del Pesce di Chioggia & Sottomarina!

From 17 to 19 of June Chioggia and Sottomarina will be the centre of your Italian experience. In the Old City you will encounter the knights and dames of the medieval city in the Day of the Marciliana.

​This is the festival in honour of the boat Marciliana, the symbol of the mastery and bravery of the sailors of Chioggia, who fought to preserve Venice's supremacy on the sea against Genoa. 


Dal 17 and 19 giugno, come ogni anno il terzo fine settimana di Giugno, a Chioggia vengono allestiti banchetti e botteghe di maestranze e artigiani medievali, insediati gli accampamenti degli armigeri mentre tutto intorno si svolgono danze, canti, combattimenti e sfide. I balestrieri mostrano al visitatore bandiere, armature, strumenti musicali, fedeli e accurate riproduzioni di pezzi originali.

Una riscoperta dell'anima medievale delle isole in onore della Marciliana, la nave simbolo del coraggio e dell'arte dei marinai di Chioggia nella lotta per la supremazia sul mare tre Venezia e Genova...

Come and enjoy the life between land and sea with us, sipping a nice Italian white wine under the stars!


Dal 17 al 30 giugno, due settimane di vongole o peoci in cassiopipa, sare o gamberi in saor, spaghetti allo scoglio, sogliole, gamberi, calamari, fritto misto o grigliata mista; seppie in umido... Tutto freschissimo di pescato. 
E poi, per accompagnare tutto, polentina, bossolà, frutta fresca, prosecco a volontà e musica sul palco, ogni sera diversa, per ballare e cantare sotto le stelle, sorseggiando vino bianco.
Un bagno di serenità, di condivisione: una finestra sulla vita che vorremmo in sull'Isola dell'Unione!

Ricette del mese! Spring Recipe! The Wild Asparagus

​Gli sparisi de spinada sono l’Asparagus acutifolius, gli asparagi selvatici tipici della macchia mediterranea. La cucina locale li utilizza nei piatti primaverili, quando la pianta germoglia, per insaporire primi e secondi piatti, sia di pesce, sia di uova o carne. Gli asparagi selvatici, sottili e verdi, sono anche più aromatici di quelli coltivati.
The Wild Asparagus is called here on the lagoon Sparisi de Spinada. They are used in the Mediterranean spring cooking to add flavour to main courses, either with pasta, fish or meat. They are thin and green and way more tasty than the usual one!

Filetti di sogliola con sparisi de spinada
4 sogliole; 1 kg di sparisi de spinada; 50 g di burro; ½ bicchiere di vino bianco; ¼ l di panna liquida; frutti di finocchio marino (Crithmum maritimum); sale e pepe.
 
Fate ammorbidire il burro a temperatura ambiente.
Pulite gli asparagi e lessateli per 6 minuti in acqua leggermente salata. Staccate una punta e amalgamatela a circa 1/3 del burro.
Diliscate il pesce e ricavate i filetti di sogliola. Fate sciogliere in padella il burro rimasto e posatevi i filetti di pesce. Bagnate con il vino bianco e terminate di cuocerli, girandoli da entrambi i lati.
Nel frattempo montate la panna, togliete i filetti di sogliola e disponeteli sul piatto da portata riscaldato. Calate nella padella la panna e le punte degli asparagi: amalgamate mescolando con delicatezza e, appena la salsa è tiepida, versatela sui filetti di sogliola e servite, decorando a piacere con frutti di finocchio marino.

Soles with sparisi de spinada
4 soles, 1 kg of wild asparaguses, 50 g of butter, 1/2 glass white wine, 1/4 l of cream, Sea Fennel seed pods Crithmum), salt and pepper.

Heat water in a pan and add salt once it boils. Clean the asparagus and boil for 6 minutes. Take the end of one of the spears of aspargus and mix it with 1/3 of the softened butter. Clean the fish and cook in a pan with the remaining butter and wine, flipping to brown both sides. Remove the cooked fish from the pan and place the fillets on a warm plate. Do not throw away the butter and wine left from cooking the fish. Whip the cream and put it with the cooked asparagus in to the pan used to cook the fish, stirring gently, and using low heat. When the sauce is warm, spoon it from the pan onto the fillets, and garnish with sea fennel seed pods.

The history of the town comes from the far and mysterious past of a civilization born and bread by the Sea.
​The tradition is that when the barbarians invaded the North of Italy, the inhabitants escaped on the islands of the lagoon of Venice, creating the Republic of the Serenissima. The islands of Chioggia and Sottomarina were the 11th and 12th islands of the Confederation of the 12 islands of the lagoon.
